Volunteering on a kibbutz was clearly the best experience I had on my travels overseas. It was not about how much you can earn, it was simply to experience another way of life, quite different from mine here in australia. I volunteered on Hanita kibbutz in the north on the border of Lebanon, feb- april 1995 .I ended up picking bananas for my 3 months and it was a fantastic time. The other volunteers were mainly from europe, so again there were people who had a total different life story to mine, although we did have one thing in common - drinking vodka!! The kibbutz members were so good to all of us,sharing their way of life and opening up their families and celebrations for us.It really was a time with great memories.I would love to have stayed longer than 3 months, but I had a plane ticket booked to go to Egypt. It would be good to hear from any one who was on kibbutz back in 1995 >Revivim or Yiftah.
I'm very much thinking of going back on kibbutz,as I have great memories and would like to revisit a great country.
Just email me,if there is any one out there.
Hope to hear from someone.
Mark fowler.
